A power drive mechanism moves a drawer, hatch or door with respect to a fixed piece of furniture of which it forms a part. The power is transmitted from the motor to the component by a flexible strap (1) with apertures (2) for drive gear teeth at regular intervals. The strap is advanced by two or more gear wheels with matching tooth pegs.
