<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing propylene glycol more efficiently than conventional methods, in the methods for producing the propylene glycol using glycerol as a raw material. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the propylene glycol includes a step of feeding a reaction liquid containing the glycerol and hydrogen to a reaction vessel; and a reaction step of bringing the glycerol into contact with a solid catalyst enabling to hydrogenate the glycerol under conditions of 100-300°C reaction temperature, and 2.5-10 MPa (25-100 bars) reaction pressure in the reaction vessel, and affording a reaction product. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
