<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately replenish toner from a toner container 6 to a developing chamber 14 in accordance with the reduction of the toner without allowing the toner to remain. <P>SOLUTION: The developing apparatus 2 is provided with a housing 8 equipped with the developing chamber 14, a stirring/carrying means 28 arranged in the developing chamber 14, and the toner container 6. The developing chamber 14 is provided with first and second carrying paths 26a and 26b and communication paths 27a and 27b. A toner discharge port 62 is formed in the toner container 6. A projecting area 82 equipped with a toner receiving port 83 and also communicating with the first carrying path 26a through a communication port 81A is arranged outside the first carrying path 26a in the housing 8.
