<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which wasteful power consumption is reduced and initialization time is shortened by eliminating unnecessary initialization processing by determining the necessity of correction processing for initialization processing. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, an individual consumable or an entire cover possesses a mechanism to detect its opening and closing and a means to mechanically store the existence of the opening and closing, and when the existence of the opening and closing of a cover is electrically determined after power is supplied again, the necessity of the correction processing for the initialization processing is determined, so that wasteful power consumption and time are reduced by eliminating the unnecessary initialization processing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
