PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of estimating a life of a heat expansion refractory material easily and highly accurately.SOLUTION: A life estimation method for a heat expansion refractory material containing an intercalation compound, comprises: a step of determining an allowable mass reduction rate that is a mass reduction rate for a volume expansion rate that is considered necessary by acquiring a relationship between the mass reduction rate and the volume expansion rate when the intercalation compound is exposed to a specific temperature; a step of measuring an arrival temperature of arriving at the allowable mass reduction rate for every rate of temperature increase when the intercalation compound is heated at a plurality of different rates of temperature increase; a step of plotting relations between a logarithm of each rate of temperature increase and an inverse of the arrival temperature on the basis of measuring results of the step, and acquiring inclinations of these plots as values of activation energy; and a step of calculating time until arriving at the allowable mass reduction rate at an arbitrary temperature by assigning the values of the activation energy to a mathematical formula defined by Ozawa's method.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9 |
