<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite optical device such as a laser coupler for performing good optical signal detection, and being manufactured at low costs. <P>SOLUTION: The laser coupler is constructed in such a manner that a microprism 2 is bonded onto the photodiodes PD1, PD2 of a photodiode IC1 through an adhesive layer 12, a semiconductor laser 4 is mounted to be adjacent thereto, and a light entering the inside from the light incident surface 2a of the microprism 2 is branched to be made incident on the photodiodes PD1, PD2. In this case, the thickness of the adhesive layer 12 is set to be larger than 6μm×(n/1.43) and equal to/lower than 9μm×(n/1.43) (n is the refraction index of the adhesive layer 12). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
