OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM, AND METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MANAGING DEFECT AREA OF THE SAME

PURPOSE: An optical recording medium, and a method and a device for managing a defect area of the same are provided to separately store position information of the skipped defect block from the information for the defect block generated by a linear replacement method. CONSTITUTION: An optical pickup records/plays an optical disc. A controller decides that the data is replaced/written to a replacement block of the replacement area allotted for the defect block depending on a sort of the recorded/played data. Controlling the optical pickup, the controller records the recognition information expressing that the defect block is replaced with the replacement block of the replacement area to a predetermined area of the optical disc depending on a decision.
