<p>The safety catch for the car seat back hinge has an inertial part (28) which is displaced during a collision, to lock the hinge and prevent the seat back from tipping. The inertial section swings a ratchet tooth (30, 32) into a ratchet on the other part of the hinge. The safety catch enables a simple rake adjustment to be used, with the rake control operating on one side of the seat only. The elimination of a crossbar for the rake adjustment improves foot space for the rear seat passenger and reduces the passive weight of the seat suspension.</p> |
