<p>Woven fabric comprising synthetic fibres is passed directly through an oven without rewinding on storage, etc. A universal type loom with a high output speed passes the fabric with synthetic fibres in the warp and/or webs directly to an infra-red oven. The heated fabric is calendered, embossed and/or laminated. The fabric is given a plastic or waterproof finish by melting or swelling of the synthetic fibres, e.g. for use in heaving duty waterproof lorry or train covers, water-proof fabrics, strengthened fabrics for covering nurseries and swimming pools, floor or wall coverings or knock-resistant coverings.</p> |
