A reinforcement spacer, which can be suspended at the point of intersection of longitudinal and transverse bars, is composed of a receiving channel (2), which is provided with a shuttering supporting foot (1) and is intended for a longitudinal bar, and of two clamp tongues (4) which are seated on the channel borders (3) and, together with said borders, delimit a latching opening (8) and a receiving space (19) for a transverse bar. In order that the spacer can be used for longitudinal and transverse bars of large diameter, the clamp tongues (4) exhibit, between their root (5) and the latching opening (8), in each case one essentially straight central part (10), and said central parts (10) and the channel base (11) are inclined with respect to one another at an acute angle, such that they converge in the direction of the tongue roots (5), the channel borders (3) being low, in the rear transverse-bar receiving space (19) bordering the tongue roots (5), and being drawn up in the region of the latching opening (8). <IMAGE>
