<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a consecutively adjustable brake mechanism for pivot type character display with the movement of a small angle and a short arm length without covering the key board of a computer personal word processor or a type writer. CONSTITUTION: The brake mechanism includes a cam fitted to a brake pad 30 and a pivot type character display generated for the type writer so that the display can consecutively turned between a lower black position and an upper black position. When the display is lowered, the cam 32 compresses the brake pad 30, and frictional between the cam 32 and the brake pad sufficiently holds the display at a desired position between the lower black position and the upper black position. The brake pad 30 can be removed and exchanged. The cam 32 is formed within the housing 20 of the character display 32.</p> |
