PURPOSE: To decoding a digital signal ciphered by a different system for each multiplexed channel and to obtain extension performance corresponding to a new ciphering system by configuring the processing unit with a signal form conversion means and a signal output means or the like outputting a signal from the signal form conversion means to the outside of the processing unit. CONSTITUTION: A signal decoded by a 1st cipher decoding circuit 150 is given to a signal selection circuit 160. The signal selection circuit 160 selects one of signals received from 1st and 2nd cipher decoding circuits 150, 151 and provides an output of the selected signal. Which input signal is to be selected and outputted by the signal selection circuit 160 depends on a command generated by a microcomputer 120 controlling a reception terminal equipment 100. For example, in the case of video data, the data are given to a format conversion circuit 180. In the case of the NTSC system adopted for a television receiver 200, e.g. a synchronizing signal is added and the data are converted into a composite signal and given to the television receiver 200 via an output terminal 190 after D/A conversion. |
