A device having a series of culture flasks with an open or perforated base having a gas-permeable porous filter plate above the base or base aperture, the porosity and hydrophobic nature of which are adequate to prevent liquid from leaking from a culture fluid column above said filter, is suitable for the series cultivation of micro-organisms or cells in gasified liquid columns. Said culture flasks can be connected to a sterile gas feed via their bases. A gastight double-bottom with a sterile gas feed pipe, the upper plate of which has a series of positions having gas apertures to accept and seal the culture flasks, is particularly suitable as the sterile gas feed. There is advantageously a thermostatically controlled hood covering the series of culture flasks and capable of forming a seal against the double bottom. The sterile gas feed is advantageously fitted with pressure and flow-meters and gas moisturisers. The double bottom may be divided into compartments by suitable webs so that different groups of flasks can be individually supplied.
