<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a black water-based ink composition for forming a printed article having excellent light resistance and gas resistance and keeping a high-quality image, and to provide an ink set equipped with the ink composition and an inkjet recording method using the composition and the set. <P>SOLUTION: The black water-based ink composition contains a trisazo dye represented by formula 1 [A is hydrogen atom or carboxy group (COOM); R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are each independently hydrogen atom, a 1-5C alkyl group, a 1-5C alkoxy group, hydroxy group, sulfamoyl group, carbamoyl group, acetyl group, carboxy group, sulfone group or a halogen atom].
