The electromechanical brake has an electric servo system which applies a brake force on to the brake pad system. The servo has a support mounting with a thrust flange which presses on to the sensor with a preset force when no brakes are applied. As the sensor force increases the servo presses against the thrust flange thereby reducing the actual force on the sensor, with the change in sensor reading proportional to the brake force. The base pressure on the sensor can be preset by an adjustable fitting on the thrust flange. The sensor identifies the point at which the brakes engage and thereby provide a simple control to correct for brake wear. Several of the electro-mechanical sensors can be spaced around the circumference of the brake servo.
