The cylinder has on two diametrically opposite sides gripper bridges comprising a gripper shaft, grippers and gripper deflector strips (4) which are height adjustable with a setting shaft (21,21') connected together by a coupling (31). The coupling compensates for the axial setting movement of the shafts. At least one of the gripper bridges has an operating element (23) for vertically adjusting the strip and which is operated from the circumference of the cylinder. A toggle lever (14) can be provided to transfer a rotating setting movement of the shaft into a translatory movement of the setting strip (8).
