The gear shaft locking device (1) has an electrical switching device (25) for operation via a pressure rod (11) contained within a spring-loaded sliding piston of the locking device. The sliding piston is contained within a guide sleeve closed by an elastic end cap on the side adjacent the electrical switching unit, with the holder for the end cap also used for securing the electrical switching device to the locking device, with a switch membrane (26) in contact with the outside of the end cap.
