The invention is directed in part to an interproximal brush apparatus containing: a stem portion having a first end and a second end and a longitudinal axis, at least one of said first and said second ends being adapted for receiving an interproximal cleansing portion having an hourglass shape extending 360 DEG along said longitudinal axis of said stem portion. Methods of cleansing interproximal spaces are also disclosed.
