The acceleration command signal approaches the actual acceleration or gas pedal signal when an automatic engagement of the clutch is undertaken and a, or the, approach speed of the signal to the actual acceleration or gas pedal signal, based on one or more parameters, determines which parameters comprise at least one of the following: motor revs, actual acceleration or gas pedal position, gearbox position of a, or the, transmission, car travel speed, acceleration or gas pedal depression speed and reduction gear ratio or reduction ratio of the gearbox of the car.
