PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow one display device to provide simultaneously a stereoscopic display and a plane display depending on each state of plural viewers by switching to the plane display from the stereoscopic display when the stereoscopic display is difficult depending on the attitude of the viewers. SOLUTION: Lights from plural light emitting areas 11aR, 11aL, 11bR, 11bL corresponding to right and left eyes of plural viewers 15a, 15b respectively are modulated through a liquid crystal display panel 13 to allow each viewer to view an image stereoscopically. In this case, a state of plural light emitting areas is changed depending on a state of a position of the viewers or on request and a stereoscopic display or a plane display is selected for an optional viewer by means 14, 16. |
