An accelerator pedal mechanism for vehicle comprising an accelerator pedal (10), pedal rod (12), one end of which is connected to the accelerator pedal (10) and the other end of which is free, and a friction generating device (20) having a cylindrical housing (26) as a fixed frictional member, a movable frictional member (28) installed movably inside the housing (26) and kept in contact with the housing (26) at all times, and a frictional member return spring (30) energizing the movable frictional member (28) in a specified direction, which is disposed at the free end of the pedal rod (12). When the accelerator pedal (10) is depressed, the free end of the pedal rod (12) pushes the movable frictional member (28) and frictional member return spring (30), causing a friction due to rubbing between the movable frictional member (28) and the housing (fixed frictional member) (26) and a friction by the frictional member return spring (30). When the accelerator pedal (10) is released, the movable frictional member (28) is returned by the frictional member return spring (30).
