PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographic element containing a DIR coupler, which effectively restrains silver development by comprising a support holding at least one kind of silver halide emulsion and at least one kind of benzoylacetanilide yellow dye forming DIR coupler. SOLUTION: This photographic element comprises the support holding at least one kind of silver halide emulsion and at least one kind of benzoylacetanilide yellow dye forming DIR coupler represented by the formula, in which each of R1 is a a halogen atom or an alkoxy group; R2 is an alkoxycarbonyl group or the like and sited in either a para or a meta position to the NH group of the anilide; X is an H or halogen atom or an alkyl group or the like; R3 is a halogen atom or an alkyl group; and R4 is a 3-10C alkyl or phenyl group.
