PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency in a recording operation and also ensure image stability by disposing a detection means, which detects an image, onto a tertiary image carrier (secondary transfer roller) on which an image is secondarily transferred from a secondary image carrier (intermediate transfer belt). SOLUTION: This device comprises image forming parts 40C-40K arranged from the side of an intermediate transfer belt cleaner 105 and along the carrying side for a recording sheet S, and a secondary transfer roller 104 for secondarily transferring toner images on an intermediate transfer belt 103 to the recording sheet S. The images formed on the intermediate transfer belt 103 are secondarily transferred to the recording sheet S in the position of the secondary transfer member. Here, on the periphery of the secondary transfer roller 104, misalignment detectors RS1 and RS2 for the detection of the misalignment of the image transferred to the surface of the roller are disposed in a straight line in the direction of main scanning (direction orthogonal to the direction of carrying). They detect amounts of displacement of criss-cross register marks of respective colors transferred from the intermediate transfer belt 103 to the vicinity of both axial ends of the surface of the secondary transfer roller 104. |
