PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling a power of a receiving unit in a mobile communication terminal are provided to reduce the power waste of the mobile communication terminal in a call impossible area by turning on/off the power of the receiving unit according to the intention of a user. CONSTITUTION: If a receiving unit power control key is inputted in a standby state(101), a control unit confirms whether a power of a receiving unit is turned on(103). If the power of the receiving unit is turned on, the control unit turns off the power of the receiving unit(105). If the power of the receiving unit is turned off, the control unit turns on the power of the receiving unit(107). |
