A plating type optical filter and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce the thickness of an electro-plating layer by replacing a conventional lamination method with a plating method. A plating type optical filter(100) includes a transparent base(110), a metal seed layer(130), and an electro-plating layer(140). The metal seed layer is laminated and formed on the upper surface of the transparent base. The electro-plating layer is laminated and formed on the upper surface of the metal seed layer. The transparent base is a film or a transparent substrate. A first function combination layer(120) having an adhesion or contrast enhancing function is placed between the transparent base and the metal seed layer.
