A membrane-electrode assembly for a fuel cell is provided to improve the output density of a fuel cell by increasing the active surface area of a catalyst layer and by fixing a catalyst to the surface of a polymer electrolyte membrane. A membrane-electrode assembly(112) for a fuel cell comprises: an anode(30) and a cathode(30') facing to each other; and a polymer electrolyte membrane(20) interposed between the anode and the cathode, wherein at least one of the anode and the cathode comprises an electrode substrate(70,70') and a catalyst layer(60,60') formed on the electrode substrate. The catalyst layer comprises a first catalyst layer(40,40') comprising a first metal catalyst grown in the form of nodules on the polymer electrolyte membrane along the direction of the electrode substrate, and a second catalyst layer(50,50') comprising a second metal catalyst formed on an inclined surface having the same orientation as the nano-nodules of the first metal catalyst. |
