<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for performing jam processing by easily detecting a conveying state of recording paper in a fixing device or during a conveying passage of the image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a photoreceptor for forming a latent image, a developing device for developing the latent image, a transfer device for transferring a toner image developed from the photoreceptor on the recording paper, and the fixing device 19 for fixing the toner image on the recording paper. The image forming apparatus is provided with a recording paper detection sensor 10 for detecting a position of the recording paper in the conveying passage, and a recording paper state display light 22 for displaying a position of the recording paper in the conveying passage in the inside of the image forming apparatus.
