An organic display device (10) having a plurality of pixels (12) and a plurality of reserve pixels (14) is provided in different embodiments. The pixels (12) each have at least one organic light-emitting component (18, 20, 22). The reserve pixels (14) each have at least one organic light-emitting reserve component and are assigned to the pixels (12). The reserve pixels (14) are arranged directly adjacent to the corresponding pixels (12). The organic light-emitting reserve components of the reserve pixels (14) emit light with the same emission colour or at least approximately the same emission colour as the organic light-emitting components (18, 20, 22) of the corresponding pixels (12). The organic display device (10) has at least one sensor device which is electrically coupled to the pixels (12) and is designed to monitor states of the pixels (12) during operation of the organic display device (10). The organic display device (10) has a driver unit which is electrically coupled to the sensor device and is designed to activate the corresponding reserve pixels (14) on the basis of the determined states of the pixels (12) during operation of the organic display device (10).
