PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate half-toning which can provided high picture quality.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus comprises: a comparison unit which determines a threshold in accordance with a gradation value of a target pixel, and when an added value obtained by adding a diffusion error generated in the other pixel to the gradation value of the target pixel is larger than the threshold, determines dot formation, and when the added value is smaller than the threshold, determines no dot formation; an error calculation unit for respectively deriving an ON error corresponding to a difference between the added value of the target pixel and a maximum gradation value and an OFF error corresponding to a difference between the added value of the target pixel and a minimum gradation value in a period in which the comparison unit determines the threshold and the dot formation; and a selection unit which when the comparison unit determines the dot formation, selects the ON error as a diffusion error generated in the target pixel, and when the comparison unit determines no dot formation, selects the OFF error as the diffusion error generated in the target pixel.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
