This water absorption treatment material 1 comprises a granular core 10 and a covering layer part 20. Recesses 12 are formed in the surface of the granular core 10. The recesses 12 are formed non-randomly in the surface of the granular core 10. The covering layer part 20 is provided so as to cover the surface of the granular core 10.
