PURPOSE:To reduce an unbalanced load error by a direction of an unbalanced load, by forming a composite load cell by superposing a ring load cell being a cylindrical and annular distortion receiving material to two pieces or below. CONSTITUTION:The first and the second ring load cells L', L'' being cylindrical and annular distortion receiving materials are coupled as one body by a vertical circular center column having a small sectional area running along a Z axis, so as to be orthogonal to the Y and X directions, in the upper and lower parts on the Z axis. Also, on the top end of this center column, a spherical load receiving button is provided, and its bottom face is supported. Moreover, electric resistance gauges R1-R4 for detecting a distortion running along the periphery are stuck to the inside periphery of each ring and an intersection of each axis, by which a composite load cell is formed. When a load has been applied to this composite load cell, force in the Z direction and force in the horizontal X and Y directions are shown exactly and on an average, respectively, by 1/2 of addition of force to be measured, which is detected by each ring, therefore, the force to be measured can be detected without an error.
