An apparatus and method of water therapy in which a person is buoyantly supported in a prone position on a top membrane of a waterbed mattress (40) containing heated water (48). A water pump (43) recirculates the water (48), which is drawn out of the mattress (40) through outlets (47) and associated piping (42) and which is then reintroduced through inlets (44) and associated piping (45) as an array of water jets (78). Air (74) is introduced by a valve (41) in the water piping (42) on the return side of the pump (43) or by means of a separate air pump (54) connected to air inlets (62) leading into the mattress. Also disclosed are a distributor fitting (46) for insertion into the mattress (40) to mix air (79) and water (48) and a base and frame assembly (52) for concealing the plumbing and air recirculation piping. |
