PURPOSE:To improve characteristics of a sintered compact such as density, ionic conductivity and strength in converting beta-alumina powder into the sintered compact by eliminating or reducing the crystalline phase of alpha-alumina, sodium aluminate, etc., in the beta-alumina powder. CONSTITUTION:The characteristic of this method for producing beta-alumina powder comprises mixing an Na source in a state thereof completely dissolved in a solution with alpha-alumina powder, providing a slurry, drying the resultant slurry and then thermally synthesizing the alpha-alumina powder. |
