PURPOSE:To selectively and continuously separate a divalent lead ion from a lead ion-containing aq. soln. with higher efficiency using a specific polyether carboxylic acid derivative. CONSTITUTION:A polyether carboxylic acid derivative represented by formula (wherein n is 2 or 3 and R1 and R2 are H or an alkyl group) is used as an ion transport agent (ionophore) and a divalent lead ion contained in a soln. A is transferred to a soln. B. For example, the polyether carboxylic acid derivative is dissolved in an org. solvent substantially immiscible with the solns. A, B and the soln. of the polyether carboxylic acid derivative is used as an intermediate soln. to indirectly bring the solns. A, B into contact with each other or the solns. A, B are brought to an indirect contact state through the soln. of the polyether carboxylic acid derivative received in the section partitioned by a diaphragm or the solns. A, B are brought to an indirect contact state through the polyether carboxylic acid derivative supported on a polymeric membrane or paper.
