PURPOSE:To select a proper dictionary in a KANJI (Chinese character) converter provided with a basic dictionary and plural field dictionaries. CONSTITUTION:When phonetic symbol string is inputted, an input part 1 segments the reading code of a morpheme corresponding to the phonetic symbol to sent to a dictionary retrieving part 6. A dictionary usage recording part 82 records the using time of each dictionary. A dictionary selection part 90 decides the retrieving order by giving priority to the dictionary of more using times in the respective dictionaries 70 and 71, which is recorded in the dictionary usage recording part 82. A dictionary retrieving part 6 retrieves the inside of each dictionary corresponding to the priority order by setting the reading code sent from the input part 1 as a retrieving key and detects all the corresponding homophones and word candidates. A character conversion part 5 makes a display part to display the detected homophones and word candidates, makes a user to confirm right conversion and sends the code of a dictionary registering the homophone and word which are judged to be right to a dictionary managing part 81. The dictionary managing part 81 updates the dictionary usage recording part 82. |
