PURPOSE:To provide a machine translation system capable of efficiently translating an original sentence with the sentence head parts of various patterns. CONSTITUTION:This machine translation system is provided with a morpheme analytic part 3 analyzing the morpheme of an inputted original language sentence and a syntax analysis and conversion generating part 4 analyzing the syntax of the inputted sentence based on the result of morpheme analysis and converting the sentence into a desired language. The machine translation system is also provided with a sentence head pattern storing part 5 for previously registering the prescribed character string in original languag as the sentence head pattern which is positioned at the head part of a main sentence and independent from the main sentence. The morpheme analytic part 3 recognizes the sentence head pattern of the inputted sentence by referring to the sentence head pattern registered in the sentence head pattern storing part 5. |
