TREATMENT OF WASTE OF MAGNETO-OPTIC RECORDING DISK

PURPOSE:To provide a method for recovering good-quality polycarbonate resin at high yield from waste of a magneto-optic recording disk (MOD) in which polycarbonate resin is used for a substrate. CONSTITUTION:Waste of a magneto-optic recording disk (MOD) in which polycarbonate resin is used for a substrate is ground by a wet method in a basic aqueous solution of 1-9wt.%; concentration, so that the average dimension of ground material is regulated to 0.5-10-mm preferably 1-5mm. The ground material is immersed in the basic aqueous solution of 1-9wt.%; concentration and treated in the aqueous solution at >=30 deg.C in a range not exceeding 75 deg.C preferably in a range within 35-70 deg.C. Thereby, a thin film part such as a dielectric film and a recording film of the magneto-optic recording disk is separated and removed to recover polycarbonate resin.
