<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an electric power amount regarding moving of a printing head in a pit-in method ink jet printer. <P>SOLUTION: This portable printer system includes a host computer and a printer which is connected with the host computer, and the printer performs an ink feeding to a printing unit by the pit-in method. In this case, the host computer is equipped with an ink consumption amount calculating device which calculates an ink consumption amount based on data in a printing job, prior to the transmission of printing data to the printer.
