Self-attaching, optionally flame-retardant plastic sheet having integral mushroom-headed studs

In a novel method, a self-attaching or sealing sheet (21) is made. This has a number of projections (5) for interlocking, which include a stem and mushroom-like head, each broadly resembling a press-stud, and are formed integrally with their substrate (19). Fluid or plasticised thermoplastic is supplied into the gap (17) between pressure- (15) and moulding- (1) rollers. The moulding roller includes depressions. The rollers turn in opposite directions, thus forming the substrate in the gap between them. An additional band (7) of soluble material is fed to the moulding roller. This has through-holes (9) forming cavities, their locations matching those of the depressions (3) in the moulding roller. Also claimed is the closure section and a closure, made as described.
