The fuel-injection valve comprises a valve member 5 which can be displaced axially in a bore 3 of a valve body 1 and which comprises on its combustion chamber end a valve sealing surface which cooperates with a valve seat surface of the valve body 1. Two valve springs 25,31 which bias the valve member 5 in the closing direction are disposed in a spring chamber 21 of a holding body 11. The first valve spring 25 acts continuously upon the valve member 5 and a second valve spring 31 does not move into position on the said valve member until the valve member 5 has completed a predetermined pre-stroke path S. The first valve spring 25 is supported on an end wall 27 of the spring chamber 21 and the second valve spring 31 is supported on a shoulder 35 which is formed in an inclined manner in order to minimise the diameter of the spring chamber 21 so that the wall thickness of the holding body 11 is sufficient to withstand the extremely high fuel pressures.
