The lock for the pyrotechnic igniter of a ballistic explosive round has a pyrotechnic mass which is exploded on impact.. A ball lock is only cocked after the round has been fired. There is a central ignition channel (40) in a through core (18) of the body (10) of the round. There is a ball guide (42) with endface stops (44, 47) for the ball (43) in the guide. There are side ignition channels (41) behind the ball when it is in the cocked position, coming out into the central ignition channel. The stops may consist of a plate at the front and a valve seat at the back for the ball.
