The fuel tank (1) has a fuel container (2) containing at least one damper element (14) to reduce noise from the fuel (15). The damper element can move within the container and has cut-outs open to the outside. The damper element is in the form of a freely floating float element. There may be several such elements freely floating in the fuel container, not necessarily connected to each other. There may be enough of them to cover virtually the entire surface of the fuel in the container.
