<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the polarized lighting device where a lighting angle is increased regardless of employing a plurality of light sources and both polarized components can be utilized, and to provide the projection type display device that projects a bright image. SOLUTION: A polarization separation/synthesis optical element 201 in the polarized lighting device separates a random polarized light emitted from 1st and 2nd light source 101, 102, into two kinds of polarized lights respectively to generate secondary light source images deviated in a direction (x) and the polarized direction is aligned. In this case, at least two light collection mirror boards among 1st to 3rd light collection mirror boards 301, 302, 303 are placed in parallel with nearly a center axis of the polarization separation/synthesis optical element 201 with a shift so that the secondary light source images by S polarized light and the secondary light source images by P polarized light in the lights emitted from the 1st and 2nd light sources 101, 102 are overlapped respectively.</p> |
