PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition in which a bicyclic aromatic compound is solubilized in a physiologically permissible solubilizing agent by including a specific bicyclic aromatic compound and an alkylalkanol. SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) at least one bicyclic aromatic compound having formula I [R1 is H, CH3, CH2OR3 (R3 is H or a lower alkyl); R2 is H, a halogen, a lower alkyl or the like; Ar is a group or the like of formula II; X is O or the like; Y and Z are each O or the like] [e.g. 4-(3,5,5,8,8- pentamethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2-naphthylthio)benzoic acid] or its salt or chiral analogue and (B) a 12-36C 2-alkyl-1-alkanol (e.g. 2-hexyldecanol). The concentration of the component A is advantageously 0.0001-10 wt.% based on the total composition and the amount of the component B is preferably at least 20 times larger than that of the component A, advantageously 0.01-20 wt.% based on the composition.
