PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smoking article reduced in sidestream smoke produced during a nonsmoking period. SOLUTION: This smoking article 1 is capable of maintaining the smoking of a fragment 5 of a relatively large amount of a tobacco-containing substance in the nonsmoking period and is composed by connecting the fragment 5 to a cross section 6 of a relatively small amount of the tobacco-containing substance capable of burning again in a smoking period. As one embodiment, a fuse part extending in the axial direction and capable of maintaining the smoking during the nonsmoking period when the surrounding tobacco substance is substantially extinguished, burning the extinguished tobacco-containing substance again when the smoking article 1 is smoked is provided.
