PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary dresser device for a flat surface grinding machine simple in structure and miniaturized and capable of easily and surely dressing and truing a grinding wheel. SOLUTION: This rotary dresser device for the flat surface grinding machine is provided with a dress shaft 7 mounted with a grinding wheel 5 for dressing and/or a grinding wheel 6 for truing thereon and arranged at a substantially right angle with the grinding wheel shaft 2, an intermediate shaft 8 for rotatably supporting the dress shaft 7, a first driving means 9 for rotating and driving the dress shaft 7, a linear bearing 10 for slidably supporting the intermediate shaft 8 in the shaft direction, a main body case 11 for holding the linear bearing 10 and a second driving means 12 for moving and positioning the intermediate shaft 8 in the shaft direction.
