PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium delivering and separating mechanism for preventing an obstacle to a device and an image reader equipped with this medium delivering and separating mechanism. SOLUTION: A first picker roller 104a and second picker roller 104b, main rollers 111a, 111b and 111c, and separating rollers 113a and 113b are arranged so that the central position in the direction orthogonal to the carrying direction of the first picker roller 104a and second picker roller 104b matches with that of the main rollers 111a, 111b and 111c and the separating rollers 113a and 113b.
