PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorbing member for an automobile excellent in absorptivity of shock from an outside and excellent in safety. SOLUTION: A bumper core 3 is interposed between an inside of a bumper fascia 2 and a body. The bumper core 3 is formed into hollow double wall structure by blow-molding a thermoplastic resin, and is a molding having hollow parts and side walls 7 upright along longitudinal direction of the bumper fascia 2, and in which one part of the each sidewall 7 is recessed to a hollow part side to form a rib-like portion 12.
