PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axle housing and a manufacturing method for it, capable of reducing the man-hours of welding and welding part and attaining high strength. SOLUTION: This axle housing 10 is provided with a pair of upper and lower housing members 12a, 12b having both side B-shaped parts 14, 15 substantially U-shaped in section and a central semi-circular part 16. The U-shaped parts 14, 15 are welded opposite to each other to form a pair of right and left cylindrical parts 20, 20, and a pair of circular opening parts 26, 28 are formed between the cylindrical parts and in front and in rear of an annular part 24 formed by a pair of semi-circular parts 16. The welding parts W of the cylindrical parts 20 are positioned on both right and left sides of the opening parts 26, 28. In an axle housing 11, a ring-shaped flange 30 is welded to the outside of one opening part 26, and a substantially semi-spherical cover 34 for covering the flange is fixed to the other opening part 28. Pipe-like tube ends 35 are respectively coaxially connected to the outer ends of the cylindrical parts 20.
