PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make full use of the performance of an expansion device and a condenser of a Rankine cycle apparatus. SOLUTION: Relative to an arbitrary relation between the pressure Pevp and temperature Tevp of steam sucked by the expansion device 4 having a first stage of cylinder chamber and a second stage of vane chamber disposed in series, an expansion ratio of steam sucked/discharged by the expansion device 4 is set at a prescribed expansion ratioεcorresponding to the arbitrary relation, so that the pressure Rexp2 and the temperature Texp2 of steam discharged by the expansion device 4 are made to meet a target value, thereby making full use of performance of the expansion device 4 and the condenser 5. Steam in a cylinder chamber at a first stage contains no water because it is within an overheated steam area, therefore no water-hammering phenomenon occurs in the cylinder chamber. Steam at an outlet of the vane chamber contains water because it is within a saturated steam area, therefore lubrication and sealing of the vane chamber can be attained. |
